Guide
For the 7 years that Bull has been in the game (Since beta!), his general playstyle and build once gadgets and star powers were added was very one-dimensional: Stomper and Tough Guy. Don't get me wrong, this build still excels to make attacking and survivng easier and safer, especially with Bull's new buffies giving him a INVULNERABILITY shield on Tough Guy. However, sometimes, I look at his options and get a little sad that oftentimes, T-Bone and Berserker get overshadowed by the supposed meta™ build.Thankfully, the new buffies for T-Bone and Berserker are simply incredible.Starting off, you may be used to this play style of Bull: Paitently charge your super, charge in, kill one opp, then get out before someone finishes you off (because, let's be real, you're going to take a lot of damage). However, this build not only keeps you healthy and scary up close, it also you to stay in the fight, pressuring everyone and anything that would otherwise ignore or just poke you to death. Let me break it down:T-Bone: The all new T-Bone gadget fires an extra shot, dealing 1600 damage and healing 800 health at max rank. This alone is already a big step-up from the old Injector, which would simply heal you for a bit of health and... Nothing else. Not a bad gadget, but adorably fair compared to everything else. Luckily, the new and improved T-Bone has an added bonus on top of that. If the gadget buffie is acquired, not only do you heal, but it marks the first person it hits, allowing you to heal for every hit you land. This is HUGE! Before, Bull's only true counter up close was Griffith or El Primo. However, with this, not only does he get a bonus 4th shot, he can heal AND keep healing to outsustain anyone. This alone is scary, but it also has a terrifying synergy with his star power...Berserker: Below 60% of health, you have increased reload speed. Not weak, but Tough Guy often had more versatility, leaving Berserker relegated to only good in niche situations and modes. With the star power buffie, you instantly recharge super on a kill. This makes Bull even scarier than before, as he now has a built-in super charge gear and now cosplays Fang. And assuming you keep healing near or above that 60% threshold with T-Bone, you'll keep activating the reload speed boost while maintaining Bulldozer after Bulldozer. In other words, once Bull kills just one opponent, no one is stopping him from flattening everyone else with his constant supers, reloading, and healing. With the synergy above, the T-Bone and Berserker build becomes a genuine contender with the usual Stomper and Tough Guy build. There is now a legitimate reason to prefer this over the former meta™ build. Do you prefer damage, aggression, and the feeling of being a rampaging bull? This build is for you.
Game Modes
Heist
Best Maps: Hot Patato and Bridge Too Far.In Heist, this build especially shines. The key is to either paitently charge your super OR close the distance little by little. This will force your enemies to either deal with you, wasting time and giving your team the space they need to advance, or if your enemies ignore you and recklessely attack your vault you can stroll on into the bank and smash it with your shotgun, dealing huge damage. One enemies do inevitably try to stop you, they'll soon realize that attacking you only activates your Berserker Star Power, damage gear, and you'll be extremely hard to shake off with the T-Bone gadget. No one can get close without being smashed, no one can just gradually poke you down if you safely retreat behind cover and pop out later. Bull is up there with Nita and Melodie as one of the best brawlers for Heist.
Hot Zone
Best Maps: Ring of Fire and Dueling BeetlesBeing a tank, Bull is already a good choice in Hot Zone for his class' natural bulk and close quarters damage, making attacking the point head-on dangerous. In Bull's case, his ability to not only defend but attack makes him one of the more flexible tanks for Hot Zone. You can either defend the point rigorously and pressure away enemies with your presence alone (or charge them if they feel confident) or become an exceptional attacker and use your Hypercharge to safely rush in, kill one opponent, and let your gadget and star power keep you energized and advance the conquest.
Brawl Ball
Best Maps: Singed Earth and Sneaky FieldsBull in Brawl Ball is such an art form that it honestly deserves a guide in of its own. I recommend watching Pika's Brawl Ball guide to learn more. If I had to give advice: Use the bushes to your advantadge, learn self-passing with super, and be able to use your super strategically to break down walls on your enemy's side to make it easier to score goals.
Works Well With
Berry
Berry's similarly aggressive playstyle with his super along with his area control synergizes with Bull nicely. Berry can throw down puddles to herd enemies directly into your kill zone, and he can even join the attack with Bull by using his own super to heal and rush the enemy, making healing even more of a miracle.
Lola
Lola is a well-rounded brawler who can function effectively with any composition. In this case, Lola provides ranged firepower to compensate for Bull's short range, her wide cone able to suppress easily. Lola's super allows her to either teleport into the fight to easily assist Bull with her gadget, OR heal Bull with her Sealed With A Kiss star power.
Ollie
Ollie can be very good if you and him are able to communicate effectively. In terms of crowd control, Ollie is unmatched, having a 2.5 second taunt on his super and a 1 second taunt on his gadgets, totalling 3.5 seconds. As Ollie, try to CC as many enemies as possible and lead them to Bull so he can very easily finish them off with his huge burst damage.
Sandy
Bull is a brawler who loves using bushes to conceal his location and make it easier to ambush foes. Sandy provides that in spades by using his super to lay down a massive field that can hide the whole team, this gives Bull the opening he needs to walk through the smokescreen and pop out any second to attack foes who will start to fear where you could be.
